February 2009 - The Firm achieved a verdict of over $100,000 for its client in an action for assault and battery.

January 2009 - In a Superior Court jury trial lasting more than a week, the Firm recently defended a corporation and two corporate officers in a case involving allegations of trespass to timber, fraud, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The Firm's defense succeeded in obtaining a jury verdict that was less than five percent of the plaintiff's claim concerning the value of the trees, with no punitive damages awarded. The Firm obtained a directed verdict of zero liability for all causes of action in favor of two of the three defendants, and completely prevailed on all of the fraud and emotional distress claims. Additionally, the Firm cross-complained against a third party for the trespass, and won a judgment against that cross-defendant in the amount of $187,000. (Attorneys for Firm: Roger J. December 2008 - The Firm negotiated a confidential high-dollar settlement for its client in a case alleging assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and related wrongful acts.

December 2008 - In a case in Orange County Superior Court in which the Firm defended a mortgage broker against claims of vicarious liability and negligence, the Firm won a Summary Judgment verdict resulting in a complete dismissal of all claims against the Firm's client. May 2008 - Messrs. Buffington and Kennedy won a trial involving a large inheritance dispute, achieving a successful verdict in which a contested living trust provision was nullified. This trial involved two expert witnesses and eleven percipient witnesses and extended over a three-week period.

April 2008 - The Firm negotiated a confidential settlement for its client in a sexual-harassment and invasion of privacy lawsuit.

February 2008 to April 2008 - The Firm negotiated confidential settlements for its clients in several high-dollar Orange County Transit Authority (OCTA) cases.

November 2007 to May 2008 - The Firm negotiated confidential settlements for its clients in several cases involving claims of fiduciary duty and negligence in connection with high-dollar real estate controversies.
