2022 – In a trust litigation matter, at Mediation the Firm achieved a multi-million dollar settlement for its client, a major California university. (Roger J. Buffington).

2020 – In an Elder Abuse trial, the Firm won a verdict for all of our client’s damages and recovered attorney’s fees for our client (Roger J. Buffington).

2019 – In a trust litigation matter, the Firm won a complete verdict regarding joint account funds going into the trust and not to a sibling, including attorneys fees from the Trust under the common fund theory. (Matthew Cox).

2018 – In a 3 week trial the Firm won a complete verdict in a Trust litigation case involving a $20 million trust dispute. (Roger J. Buffington and Brooke J. Buchanan).

2017 – In a 4 week jury trial in Los Angeles Superior Court, the Firm won a complete Defense verdict for its client in a dispute concerning the stock ownership of three large corporations. The Firm won all Causes of Action in this lawsuit, thereby establishing its client’s ownership in all three corporations and defeating the Plaintiff’s allegations of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and related claims. 2017 – The Firm prevailed in a trial in Orange County Superior Court in a case concerning the ownership of a valuable parcel of Huntington Beach residential property, successfully quieting title in favor of its client. (Roger J. Buffington and Brooke A. Buchanan, trial counsel).

2016 – In a lawsuit in Orange County Superior Court involving a dispute over the ownership of a corporation, Buffington Law Firm (Lead counsel: Roger J. Buffington) achieved a complete victory for its client, establishing her ownership of the corporation after a one-week trial.

2015 – In a business litigation trial involving claims of promissory estoppel and breach of contract against the Firm’s client, Roger J. Buffington and Brooke A. Buchanan successfully achieved a full defense verdict in which the Plaintiff took nothing against the Firm’s client.

2014 – In an unfair competition case in which the Buffington Law Firm business litigation team was defending a departed employee, the Firm successfully negotiated a settlement that preserved essentially all of their client’s rights to compete.

2014 – The Buffington Law Firm Real Estate litigation team successfully settled a quiet title and encroachment action on terms that achieved all of their client’s litigation objectives.

2014 – The Buffington Law Firm business litigation defense team won a complete defense verdict for a corporation that it represented in an employment case. The case  consisted of high-dollar claims of hostile work environment, harassment, retaliation, and related FEHA claims. In a three-day Superior Court trial the Court found for the Firm’s client on all points.

2014 – In a Labor Board Appeals trial, Buffington Law Firm business trial lawyer Roger J. Buffington achieved a complete defense verdict for their corporate client in a case involving a large claim of unpaid wages and benefits.

2014 – The Buffington Law Firm business trial lawyers negotiated a settlement in favor of their client that obtained 100% recovery of the client’s investment in a case involving securities and investment fraud.

2014 – In a case involving a fraudulent real estate investment “Ponzi Scheme,” Buffington Law Firm real estate litigation attorney Roger J. Buffington obtained judgments against the Defendant that represented the entire lost investment amounts plus interest for the firm’s three clients. The firm also won an award for attorney’s fees for all three plaintiffs under the Private Attorney General Doctrine.

2014Buffington Law Firm Orange County business litigation attorneys Roger J. Buffington began trial in a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the firm’s client involving a joint venture agreement. After one day of trial the plaintiff accepted a token settlement amount and abandoned its claims.

2013 – Buffington Law Firm Orange County corporate litigation attorneys Roger J. Buffington won a complete victory in a lawsuit involving issues of corporate control.  The case concerned allegations against the corporation’s directors and some shareholders of breach of fiduciary duty and related claims.  After trial the Court rendered a complete defense verdict in favor of the Firm’s clients

2013 – Roger J. Buffington recently won an Orange County Superior Court business and real estate litigation case in which the Firm was defending its client against allegations of breach of contract, fraud, and breach of fiduciary duty. The Court completely adopted the Firm’s arguments in rendering a complete defense verdict in the case.

2013 – In a breach of contract lawsuit, of Buffington Law Firm successfully defended a party in Los Angeles Superior Court.

2013Buffington Law Firm business trial lawyers are taking the lead in defending certain Huntington Harbour homeowners against the California State Lands Commission (“CSLC”). CSLC is attempting to renege on a 30 year agreement that the State would not charge rent to California homeowners who maintain docks on the Main Channel of Huntington Harbour. On May 7, 2013 Buffington Law Firm won a significant court victory against CSLC by defeating the State’s Demurrer to our client’s case. The State had previously announced its full confidence that the court would rule in favor of the State. Much remains to be done, but this was a significant victory for Huntington Harbour homeowners against the California State Lands Commission and its unconscionable attempt to subvert longstanding California Public Policy.

2013 – Roger J. Buffington was the featured speaker for the Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce and the North Orange County Kiwanis Club. Topics covered included “Common Issues in Business Litigation” and “Breach of Contract Litigation.”

2013 – In a business fraud case filed in Orange County Superior Court, the Firm successfully recovered 100% of the client’s funds in a negotiated settlement and stipulated judgment.

2013 – In a four-day Arbitration concerning an employment dispute in which the Firm was defending a major Southern California corporation, the Firm achieved a complete Defense ruling and prevailed on all elements of the claim.

2013 – In a business litigation case involving allegations of business fraud and other wrongful conduct the Firm successfully defended its client and obtained a dismissal of the lawsuit with no liability to our client.

2013 – The Firm successfully negotiated a low-cost settlement on behalf of a major Southern California employer in an employment dispute case involving allegations of wrongful termination, violation of the Family Leave Medical Act (FMLA) and retaliation.

2013 – In a series of Trust and inheritance cases, the Firm successfully represented a major university and brought Trust Petitions and obtained Court orders which transformed numerous loan fund bequests into scholarship funds.

2012 – In a case involving a real estate encroachment claim, the Firm prevailed on all points on behalf of its clients, and defeated the Plaintiffs’ attempt to win a Motion for Preliminary Injunction. The Firm succeeded in forcing the Plaintiffs to completely drop their claim.

2012 – In a week long Trust inheritance dispute case involving bad faith and related issues on the part of a Trustee, the Firm won a substantial verdict in favor of its clients. The ultimate verdict yielded all of the relief that we requested on behalf of the clients.

2012 – In a high-dollar business litigation lawsuit the Firm successfully negotiated a confidential settlement on behalf of its client in a case involving a large equipment lease, and recovered the entire disputed amount for its client.

2012 – The Firm represented an investor in a stock brokerage case before FINRA and successfully reached a confidential settlement on behalf of its client.

2010-2012 – The Firm represented a major university in numerous successful Petitions to restructure irrevocable trusts.

2011 – In a three day trial the Firm prevailed on a breach of contract action involving ownership of a business.

2011 – The Firm successfully represented a homeowner in a high-dollar dispute involving breach of fiduciary duty and nondisclosure issues, and construction defects. On the eve of trial we recovered a confidential settlement from several defendants.

2010-2011 – In several Orange County business litigation cases involving investment and business fraud the Firm represented Plaintiffs in a lawsuit involving an active fraud ring that had defrauded several families out of their homes and life savings. In these hotly contested cases the Firm negotiated confidential settlements which restored the savings and homes of the Plaintiffs. Additionally, the Firm achieved multi-million dollar verdicts against SEVERAL of the defendants.

2010 – In a high-dollar real estate litigation lawsuit the Firm represented a real estate broker in a case involving issues of property ownership and related real estate and investment issues. In the middle of trial the Firm successfully negotiated a settlement in which the other side abandoned almost all of its claims, which allowed the Firm’s client to recover real property of substantial value.

2010 – In a will and trust contest case involving Undue Influence and issues of incapacity, the Firm defended an elderly woman in a real estate dispute involving a high-dollar claim against her. After examining various percipient witnesses the Firm was successful in negotiating a de minimus settlement in favor of the client.

2010 – The Firm represented a major university in a will and trust dispute, and succeeded in recovering over $1 million in property that had been misappropriated.

February 2009 – The Firm achieved a verdict of over $100,000 for its client in an action for assault and battery.

January 2009 – In a Superior Court jury trial lasting more than a week, the Firm recently defended a corporation and two corporate officers in a case involving allegations of trespass to timber, fraud, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The Firm’s defense succeeded in obtaining a jury verdict that was less than five percent of the plaintiff’s claim concerning the value of the trees, with no punitive damages awarded. The Firm obtained a directed verdict of zero liability for all causes of action in favor of two of the three defendants, and completely prevailed on all of the fraud and emotional distress claims. Additionally, the Firm cross-complained against a third party for the trespass, and won a judgment against that cross-defendant in the amount of $187,000. (Attorneys for Firm: Roger J. Buffington ).

December 2008 – The Firm negotiated a confidential high-dollar settlement for its client in a case alleging assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and related wrongful acts.

December 2008 – In a case in Orange County Superior Court in which the Firm defended a mortgage broker against claims of vicarious liability and negligence, the Firm won a Summary Judgment verdict resulting in a complete dismissal of all claims against the Firm’s client. May 2008 – Messrs. Buffington won a trial involving a large inheritance dispute, achieving a successful verdict in which a contested living trust provision was nullified. This trial involved two expert witnesses and eleven percipient witnesses and extended over a three-week period.

April 2008 – The Firm negotiated a confidential settlement for its client in a sexual-harassment and invasion of privacy lawsuit.

February 2008 to April 2008 – The Firm negotiated confidential settlements for its clients in several high-dollar Orange County Transit Authority (OCTA) cases.

November 2007 to May 2008 – The Firm negotiated confidential settlements for its clients in several cases involving claims of fiduciary duty and negligence in connection with high-dollar real estate controversies.
